17 Years of PoPville – Beers at Looking Glass Lounge Tomorrow (Thursday) Night!

I still can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 17 years!?! Time flies as they say. Alas, kinda like during the heat of the pandemic, it doesn’t feel like a super celebratory time – but that’s the nice thing about beer – you can have one in good times and in bad/sad. As I said last time – I do want to thank you for sticking around for so many years!

Please do keep your tips, emails, photos etc. coming! [[email protected] or @PoPville on social media.]  I couldn’t do this without you guys. And if you are in place to contribute to our long term survival please consider joining our Patreon. Whether you are able to give $2 or $20 a month it all helps. And you’ll get a bonus PoPville Plus + post every Wednesday. Got some good scuttlebutt for you in today’s plus +.

Another good way to help out is to sign up for our free daily newsletter so you never miss a post. If you want to pick up a shirt or other merch you can do so here.

So nothing too crazy this year, just heading back to a spot close to my heart before they close this location – so maybe see a few of you at Looking Glass Lounge tomorrow night (3634 Georgia Ave, NW I’ll be there around 6-10pm.) Cheers!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
