Update: Homicide. Early morning Shooting on U Street

From MPD sent just before 4am: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the area of 9th Street and U Street NW. Lookout for W/M with curly hair wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and boots. Last seen going eastbound on Florida Avenue NW.”

“The Third District is investigating a shooting which occurred approximately 3:50am in the 900 block of U Street NW. One adult male sustained a gunshot wound and sustained critical injuries. Anyone with information can call 202-727-9099 or text 50411.”

Update from MPD:

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting that killed a man in Northwest D.C.

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, at approximately 3:38 a.m., Third District officers responded to the 900 block of U Street, Northwest, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Diamonte Lewis of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
