“Dear PoPville,
Just noticed this year’s DC property tax address for check submission is in Philadelphia; did they contract this out? I looked and last year’s address was in DC. Seems odd.
Update:
After an hour on hold I spoke to someone at the DC Office of Tax and Revenue who confirmed that Philadelphia is the correct address but that the postmark date is what counts towards the due date. When I pointed out that the due date language is new (no longer by postmark date) she looked up my bill, read the language, then put me on hold for ten minutes. When she came back on the line, she said no one responded to her so she presumes, based on the language, that the bill is due by the due date now as opposed to the postmark date. I then asked her why the bill address is now in Philadelphia and she told me “they were just as surprised as I am and they have no idea”.
I think the least they could have done is highlighted this change in this year’s tax bill because it’s easy to miss.”
