“Dear PoPville,
Wondering if this is due to a change in DC water- I’m curious if any other dog owners have had this happen within the last six months:
Our dog (3-year-old Pomsky) has recent staining where he licks his cheeks. It looks like we add rouge to his adorable face. We do not. Nor do we contour. He’s trying to though…
This started six months ago. We’ve seen a vet, vet dentist, and groomer who have worked through these NOT being the cause: dental issues or skin allergies (had injections to see if this would help the licking).
I am looking for ideas on the root cause for the porphyrin increase all of a sudden. I am thinking perhaps the city changed the water formula. I have written to DCWater, to find out but I am curious if there are any other DC dogs experiencing this recently.
Other specifics if helpful:
no other animals in the house
no other changes in living or life of our dog
same energy health is great from vet, up to date on all, no medications taken”
