“she had given birth to numerous puppies overnight. She was alone, looking out the window while nursing the pups.”

Humane Rescue Alliance has been alerted again.

“Dear PoPville,

Calling attention to a situation that has recently escalated on Georgia avenue.

Neighbors have noticed two dogs left alone on a regular basis overnight at a store on Georgia Ave. Often seeing the dogs sitting alone in the morning with nothing more than one towel to share between the two of them and

alongside their excrement, until the owner retrieved them and subsequently cleans up the mess.

Sunday morning, walking by the store at about 8:20 am neighbors noticed that only one of the adult dogs was in the store, the female and most upsetting, she had given birth to numerous puppies overnight. She was alone, looking out the window while nursing the pups. It was difficult to see how many puppies there were and if all of them were alive. The floor was covered in feces and blood and it was clear this mama dog had been fully alone through the birth.

Neighbors have spoken to the DC human rescue alliance. While they said they will send out an officer to see if they can offer low/no cost vaccines and spay/neuter services they don’t believe anything illegal is technically being done so there may be little they can do.

Any community members have any advice or ideas on next steps to make sure these dogs and newborn puppies get proper care?”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
