Council Member Henderson writes: “This is a childcare center. Like most in DC it was supposed to open at 7am. Now many families are learning they won’t have care today and the foreseeable future. I can only imagine what it will take this small biz to rebuild.
News reports indicate the driver was speeding.”
DC Fire and EMS reported around 4:30am: “Car into building 300 Eastern Ave NE. Vehicle into 1 story commercial building. @PGFDNews units already on scene.”
“Update vehicle into building 300 Eastern Avenue NE. No injuries reported. Our Special Ops personnel are conducting a further assessment of the structural integrity of the building and working with @PepcoConnect & @washingtongas to control utilities.”
