From Alert DC:
“NWS reports very poor air quality today, which may be unhealthy for people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens. Reduced visibility is expected from 3-6PM. Wearing a mask may help limit irritation for those suffering from respiratory illnesses.
Avoid strenuous outdoor activities and keep any activity short. Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them. Additionally, residents can take these steps to reduce exposure:
– Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard.
– Shorten time you are active outdoors.
– Save outdoor activities for days when air quality is better.”
From DC Public Schools: “Due to air quality concerns, DC Public Schools has canceled all outdoor activities at our schools today. This includes recess, outdoor Physical Education classes, athletic practices and competitions, and any school-specific events or field trips intended for the outdoors.”
