From AlertDC:

“A Code Red air quality alert has been issued for today, June 29, 2023. This means very poor air quality is expected, which may be unhealthy for people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens. Reduced visibility is expected. Wearing a mask may help limit irritation for those suffering from respiratory illnesses.

Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them. Additionally, residents can take these steps to reduce exposure:

• Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard.
• Shorten time you are active outdoors.
• Save outdoor activities for days when air quality is better.
