Mike and Lois’s Late Night Grill has a powerful story too:

1802 Belmont Road, NW

Their website says:

“After giving up his spot at medical school, our founder Sammi had to endure several personal crises as a consequence of wanting to change the world on his terms. Enduring chronic homelessness and hunger, a firm belief in resilience and faith helped Sammi survive life without a home.

Sammi used his learned experience working in multiple culinary concepts to cultivate the unique flavor of burgers.

Through years of hard work and earned trusted relationships, Sammi has helped grow Mike & Lois’s Late Night Grill into DC’s #1 Late Night Burger Kitchen. Our profits are invested back into our community directly targeting homelessness, hunger, and HIV.

Every Burger is made with love and passion, as we are grateful to serve our community while putting a smile on someone’s face. :)

Mike & Lois’s Late Night Grill supports the fight against hunger + homelessness. As a Not-for-Profit Cloud Kitchen, we champion the work of our sister organization Momentum Health.

Momentum Health is an innovative Community Health Lab that eliminates health disparities for Youth Communities of Color battling homelessness or unstable housing.

Partnering with the greatest minds in Public Health, Momentum Health has developed the most advanced community health programs to address the needs of homeless youth.

Sammi and the staff at Mike and Lois’s Late Night Grill work tirelessly to advance the lives of Homeless Youth of Color daily.

In a prayer to God, Sammi promised to commit his life’s work to ensure that one-day Homeless Youth won’t ever have to experience the adversities he has had to survive.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
