Has anyone had any success in getting sanitation to replace public trash cans once they have removed them? I live between 13th and 14th streets, and every few months DC will collectively punish our neighborhood for people putting household trash in public cans by removing the cans themselves.
As a consequence, more trash ends up on the ground, and (more selfishly) I have to walk further out of my way on dog walks. I understand the difficulty in citing people who are abusing the trash regulations, but surely there must be a third way forward here.”
