“Arianna, was a 5th grader who was set to graduate this year and begin middle school in the fall.”

Kristin sends this heartbreaking note: “The parents of the Capitol Hill daycare where Arianna’s mom works have set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral and ongoing expenses after her death on Sunday. Can you share?”

The GoFundMe says:

“We are some of the families at Board of Child Care – Early Childhood Education Center (“BCC”) in Capitol Hill who were devastated to learn that our beloved teacher and the mother of four, Ms. Antionette, and her family were the victims of senseless gun violence on Mother’s Day 2023.

Ms. Antionette and her family were driving home on Sunday night when they heard the sound of gunshots. Ms. Antionette would soon realize that her 10-year-old daughter, Arianna Davis, was struck by the gunfire. Arianna was hospitalized that evening.

On a day that should have been joyful and filled with loving memories, Ms. Antionette and her family were forced to endure this nightmare. And now, it is with a heavy heart that we must share that on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Arianna succumbed to her injuries. She leaves behind a brokenhearted family and community that will miss her dearly.

Arianna, was a 5th grader who was set to graduate this year and begin middle school in the fall. She loved her family- especially her three brothers. She enjoyed her “Mommy and Daughter” dates where she and Ms. Antionette would get their nails done, go out to eat, and go shopping together. Arianna loved to dance and tic tok was her favorite. To know Ari was to know a sweet and loving child with a beautiful smile that could light up any room.

For those of us part of the BCC family, we see how Ms. Antionette brings joy, love, and compassion to her students every day. She cares for our children and supports us as families. When we drop our children off each day we feel comforted knowing they are safe and happy in Ms. Antionette’s excellent care. We feel compelled to help. We want to support Ms. Antionette and her family during this difficult time. We hope you’ll join us in raising funds to help Ms. Antionette’s family navigate the funeral expenses, daily living expenses, childcare coverage, trauma support, and transportation during this tragedy. No one should ever have to go through this. And we will NOT let Ms. Antionette and her family go through this alone.

In the same way that Ms. Antionette has shown love and support to our children, we are coming together to pray for her family and ensure that they know they are supported and loved.

If you want to honor Arianna’s life…
If you are currently a BCC family or were in the past…
If you are part of the DC community…
If you can remember the amazing teachers that helped shape you or the children in your life..
If you’re just sick of seeing families put through hell because of gun violence…

We hope you’ll join us and contribute to this fundraising campaign.

Love,
BCC Families Who Love Ms. Antionette

Please note that 100% of the funds raised in this campaign will be gifted directly to Ms. Antionette and her family. Donors will not receive anything of value in return for their contribution.”
