From MPD: “Alert: Firearm Unlawful Discharge Investigation at 1104 hours in the 700 block of Girard Street NW. Lookout for B/M 20 YOA WEARING A BLACK PUFFER JKT ,BLUE JEANS.”

“Dear PoPville,

I got a new one for you. Lost our trash can today because as they we’re picking up trash .. shots were fired on Girard and the trash guys threw the trash can in the truck and drove off.

11am this occurred on Girard Street between Georgia and Sherman ave. Think i can get my trash cans back?”

Update from MPD:

“Good Afternoon: Today at approximately 11:04 am, members of the 3rd District responded to the 700 block of Girard St. NW for the report of Gunfire. Our 3D Officers had been patrolling close by, and were able to arrive on scene quickly and make an apprehension of a Suspect in this case. Although no one was injured by gunfire, 1-Adult Male has been placed under arrest for “Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm” & “Carrying a Pistol without a License” and 1-Illegal Firearm has been recovered as Evidence. Thank you for your patience as our response to this area undoubtedly disrupted local traffic. MPD remains vigilant and continues to seize illegal firearms off our streets every chance we can. Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
