“Dear PoPville,
Loud banging sound, like a giant is stomping the ground, heard in DuPont this morning (and many mornings). Any idea??”
and
“I moved to Capitol Hill (near Stanton Park) in August 2022. When I first moved, I noticed some loud booming noises around 7 am.
As I’ve lived in the neighborhood longer, I’ve noticed (well, my dog who is terrified of fireworks helped me notice) that this repetitive booming seems to take place most Tuesday mornings. Typically there are 10 loud booming noises all in a row, and then 5-10 mins later it happens two more times. I’ve been out walking several blocks from my apartment around that time and I can even hear the booms around there. Does anyone know what the booming noises might be? It sounds like construction but I can’t imagine why it would only be happening on certain days at certain times?”
Readers respond: “Probably the Arlington guns echoing off the cloud cover.”
“Heard it…sounded like gun salute which could be from Arlington”
