A friend and I were recently lamenting the loss of happy hour culture post-covid. Not so much a comment on the quality of happy hour options in DC, but that the way people gather/socialize has naturally shifted away from the bar to the highboy or cocktail table. At least in our recent experience, it seems like folks are typically going out within their own social bubble, and not necessarily interested in meeting others. That, or it’s a bunch of 20-somethings getting wasted. No judgement, I used to be one of those 20-somethings! But I’m looking for a little more low-key these days. Looking for recommendations on solid happy hour (or late night) neighborhood bars that strike a balance between the two!“
