Readers reported: “Shooting in Park View about 11 am – around Warden and Park NW. Surrounding streets closed off HEAVY police presence.”

and

“There was just a shooting in Columbia heights around 11:35 am today. Very loud shots at least 10 by Columbia and 14th”

“Shooting Investigation at 1118 hours in the 600 block of Otis Place, NW. No Lookout.”

From MPD at 12:05pm:

“Shooting investigation in the unit block of 14th St & Columbia Rd NW. Lookout for a Black Ford Fusion with Delaware Tags traveling SB on 14th St NW.

Update: At approximately 1141 hours the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District was alerted for a shooting in the 1300 block of Columbia RD. NW. Upon our arrival a juvenile male was located suffering from multiple gun shot wounds to his lower extremities. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threating injuries. Anyone with information can contact the CIC at 202-727-9099.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
