A reader reported around 1:45am: “a car drove clean through the side of an apartment building on North Capitol and Webster NE. Police and EMS already there. I hope no one was injured.”

DC Fire and EMS reported: “Box Alarm with vehicle striking building 4500 block Clermont Dr. NE. Vehicle went thru wall into apartment of 3 story apartment building.
Small fire engine compartment extinguished. No injuries reported. Building evacuated while structural damage assessment is made.”

“Update vehicle striking building with fire 4500 block Clermont Dr. NE. DC Fire Special Ops personnel working with building inspector have determined 2 apartments are uninhabitable. Building management is working to obtain emergency shelter for those occupants.”
