“fundraising for a female Ukrainian artist, Inna, and her young son on a special 2-year humanitarian visa”

via GoFundMe

“Dear PoPville,

Inna and her son Zhenya just arrived from Ukraine to DC two weeks ago on a special 2-year humanitarian parole visa. The gofundme was set up by a friend who who stayed with them in the Ukraine when she served there in the Peace Corps and who is generously hosting them here in DC. All donations go directly to supporting them, especially until Inna can receive her work authorization (which usually takes about 5-7 months). They are lovely and it would be so nice if we could help give them a warm welcome to DC.”

The GoFundMe says:

“My name is Elena, and I am fundraising to bring a female Ukrainian artist, Inna, and her young son to the U.S. on a special 2-year humanitarian parole visa called Uniting for Ukraine. With no signs of diminishing hostilities in the near future and increased economic difficulties, I am eager to get them to a safe place until the war is over.

Inna and her husband were my friends and hosts when I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in their village several years ago. I want to return their hospitality and host Inna and their son in my home in Washington DC (Ukrainian men cannot leave the country). I will provide them with housing as well as emotional and logistic support, but I will need help with the associated financial costs. It is expensive to start a new life in a foreign country, and I want to provide my friend with all the resources she needs to be successful and independent.”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
