Shots Fired Near 8th and Upshur in Petworth around Midnight. Shooting in NoMa. Shooting in SW. and “shooting at Union Station. Just before 4:00 p.m.”

A reader reports at 12:08am: “just woken out of a deadsleep but gunshots VERY near to 8th and Upshur.

We saw the cops last night put about a dozen little bullet/casing markers out there to photograph. I walked by this morning and the back driver side window of the car parked across from Timber was shot out. Also… hell of a way to wake up. ”

From MPD at 12:13am: “Shooting Investigation in the Unit block of P St NE. No Lookout at this time.”

From MPD at 10:23pm: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the Unit block of Galveston Street SW. Lookout for 3 males wearing ski masks w/ one wearing a blue shirt.”

From US Capitol Police:

“United States Capitol Police (USCP) officers caught two people who are accused of being involved with a shooting at Union Station. Just before 4:00 p.m.,

a USCP sergeant heard the shots at Union Station. Meanwhile, DC’s Metropolitan Police put out a radio call for shots fired. USCP officers nearby quickly responded, searched the area, and caught two suspects near North Capitol Street and H Street. They also confiscated a handgun.

One person suffered a minor wound to their foot during the shooting at Union Station.

The Amtrak Police Department is the lead on the investigation. DC’s Metropolitan Police Department assisted.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
