“Colada Shop Dupont Circle Opens this November”

1900 N Street, NW

From a press release:

“Daniella Senior and her team at Colada Shop are happy to announce the fifth reincarnation of the popular Cuban concept which will open this Fall at 1900 N St NW. In operation since 2015, Colada Shop is a casual café and eatery where guests come for the quality of offerings and the unmatched hospitality. The chain has captured the hearts of Washingtonians by blending together the cosmopolitans lifestyles with the Cuban traditions of starting and ending the day.

“I am just humbled by the overpowering welcome Colada Shop has received by Washingtonians,” said Senior, Founder and CEO of Colada Shop. “Every location, while embracing our own ethos and culture, has its own personality and spirit and I am excited to discover what this location’s character is going to look like. Dupont Circle is a location that always spoke to us, and I am thrilled we finally found an ideal location to bring our coffee, cocktails and food and make this neighborhood even more enjoyable.”

This 1800 square feet store will seat 35 guests indoors and will have an additional 24 patio seats. Guests will be able to delight in an ingeniously crafted menu and an exceptional beverage program conceived by Daniella Senior & Juan Coronado.

Like its sister locations, this menu will include a wide variety of year-round classic and reinterpreted Cuban bites complemented by hearty dishes. The repertoire of favorites will include Calderos – rich and nourishing sofrito-based egg skillets, an array of healthy and freshly made breakfast bites, Tostadas and Salads, as well as original sandwiches, empanadas and pastelitos. Unlike other outposts, the Dupont Circle location will offer a variety of family-style dishes such as Arroz con Pollo, tender chicken bites served with Cuban-style rice; and BBQ Ribs made with Colada Shop’s guava BBQ sauce and served with coleslaw and yucca fries. Vegetarian guests will be able to replace the protein with Jackfruit. Food items will be priced between $3.50 and $14.50 and family style dishes between $22.00 – $26.00.

The menu would not be complete without Colada Shop’s legendary beverage program featuring rum focused classic and original cocktails priced between $10 and $13.50. Guests can expect a selection of favorites such as the Piña Colada (white rum, coconut cream, pineapple, lime); the Mojito (white rum, lime, cane sugar syrup, mint, and soda); the Cascara Cuba Libre (dark rum, Mexican coke, cascara bitters); the Cuban Jungle (dark rum, passion fruit, lime, coconut syrup and red bitters) as well as seasonal additions. Moreover, an array of flavorful and seasonal slushies and on-the-go cocktail pouches will also be available and priced between $10 and $13.25.

Central to every Colada Shop is the Cuban-inspired coffee menu which will include an array of caffeinated drinks such as the iconic Cuban coffee, the Colada, which is 4oz of Cuban-style espresso traditionally meant to be shared. Sharing a colada remains a prominent social and cultural activity and is customary of workplace breaks in Cuban communities. Other coffee drinks offered include the Café con Leche – a Latin latte with a shot of Café Cubano and hot steamed milk and the Cortadito – an espresso with a splash of steamed evaporated milk and foam. Coffee drinks will be priced between $3.50 and $6.50.

“It is an honor to become part of one of D.C.’s signature neighborhoods,” added Senior. “We are beyond excited to bring more vibrancy to this area and committed to continue to provide sophisticated yet casual experiences for our guests. We cannot wait to welcome you, all.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
