“Heads up to anyone planning on taking DC paid leave soon! DC Paid Family Leave Portal is Down”

“Dear PoPville,

The DC Paid Family Leave payment portal is down (supposedly due to ransomware attack on the vendor). I’m on maternity leave now and have been awaiting a payment for over a week now. My husband is going to take time off soon and is unable to apply for benefits with the portal down as well.

This will certainly impact our financial planning, and I feel for anyone who needs this income or will have to go back to work instead of remaining on leave. I wish we had some kind of update on when payments will resume but essentially all DC has said is “sorry for the inconvenience”. Heads up to anyone planning on taking DC paid leave soon!”

From DC Department of Employment Services:

“Last week, the vendor operating http://dcnetworks.org notified us of a major service interruption impacting Paid Family Leave and the Virtual One Stop, but not Unemployment Insurance. Until the system is restored, DOES cannot make PFL benefit payments.”

“Stumped on Red line”

“Dear PoPville, Red line to Glenmont. Why just why are someone’s clothes on the ground?”

At Generation Hope, we’re dedicated to supporting teen parents in college as they work toward earning their degrees. We are in need of caring child care volunteers for upcoming events on Saturday, October 21st (in Washington, DC), and Saturday, November 4th (in Arlington, VA). Join our growing volunteer community and support us at an event this fall!

At all of our events, we provide free onsite child care for the children of the teen parents we serve, creating a nurturing environment for the kiddos while their parents learn valuable life skills and build community.

If you enjoy working with children and are looking to make an immediate impact in your community, please visit https://www.generationhope.org/volunteer to learn more.
