“Honey’s Coffee Company is a family-owned, sister-owned, and black-owned coffee brand.”

From a press release:

Honey’s Coffee Company, one of the first black-owned brands based in Washington, DC, launched its specialty brand of coffee beans. This online specialty coffee brand sources its coffee beans from farms all over the world. The 12 oz bags of coffee beans are freshly roasted right before being shipped to customers.

Honey’s Coffee Company offers a wide variety of flavors and blends, from Ethiopia, Colombia, Africa, Honduras, Guatemala, Peru, plus more. “Our interest in the coffee industry grew deeper while managing our coffee shop/cafe in Washington, DC”, said co-owner, Cathy Stanley. We want this brand to be part of an industry that not only provides the world’s favorite beverage, but one that creates jobs and contributes to the economy. Honey’s Coffee Company is a family-owned, sister-owned, and black-owned coffee brand. With Honey’s Coffee Company, entrepreneurs Marie Stanley, Cathy Stanley, and Nigel Broadnax are taking their passion for the coffee industry and creating a path for their brand.

Our mission is to source high grade specialty coffee beans from growers around the world and provide them directly to our customers. “We want to ensure that our customers get the most out of their coffee drinking experience, and fully obtain the maximum flavor of the beans”, said co-owner, Marie Stanley. Additionally, we plan to incorporate our love of music and our engagement with the DC jazz community into our concept and our mission. We plan to align with the Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation to further the cause of keeping jazz alive in the DC area and other jazz communities.

We believe that the perfect cup of coffee starts with specialty grade coffee freshly roasted by Honey’s Coffee Company.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
