Shootings in Park View, Navy Yard, Columbia Heights and (Homicide) Mount Vernon Square

A reader reported at 10:15pm: “anyone else hear 15-20 gunshots near the park view rec center?”

From MPD: “Shooting in the 600 block of Otis Place, NW. Lookout for Lookout for a B/M, dark complexion wearing gray outfit w/black mask”

A reader reported at 12:38am: “about 5-10 gunshots heard near Whole Foods in Navy Yard”

From MPD: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the 1100 block of 2nd Pl SE. No lookout at this time.”

and “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the 900 block of Mt. Vernon Place NW. Lookout for Male wearing a white shirt.”

From MPD: “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in the 900 block of 9th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 2:31 am, members of the Second District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC FEMS members transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
