Looks like DDOT is putting the finishing touches on the new 16th Street bus lanes in Mt. Pleasant. That includes signage that clearly indicates the reversible center lane is back in operation for rush hour.
However, no one is observing it, and today I saw near head-on collisions because of the confusion. People are also continuing to park and drive in the bus-only lane at rush hour,
so all that tax money for rebuilding the road basically brings us back to square one.
Where is DDOT/MPD/DPW in educating the public about the change, enforcing the reversible lane and quickly towing people who park in the bus lanes? This is a serious accident waiting to happen, not to mention making traffic congestion needlessly worse. Why am I not surprised this wasn’t coordinated or rolled out properly…”
