Duke’s Grocery opening a new location in Navy Yard this Fall!

1201 Half Street, SE

From a press release:

“The team behind Duke’s Grocery is expanding its reach in Washington, DC, opening the next edition of its East London-inspired gastropub in Navy Yard. The newest project will be the fourth Duke’s location and the most bar-forward concept so far. In addition to Duke’s, Duo Group LLC is also behind Gogi Yogi Korean BBQ in Shaw, and the soon-to-open Chesapeake Crab Shack & Bar on U Street. Duke’s Grocery Navy Yard will be located at 1201 Half Street, SE, just steps away from Nationals Park and the Navy Yard Metro Station, and is slated to open in Fall 2022.

The new location has a huge garage door that provides a breezy indoor / outdoor feel with direct connection to the patio seating on Half Street. Duke’s Grocery Navy Yard will have by far the biggest bar and most televisions of any Duke’s. “This is going to be a drinks-heavy operation, and the Duke’s staples we are known for – the Proper Burger®, massive sarnies, 12:00-7:00pm Happy Hour, bottomless brunch – are of course going to feature in Navy Yard, too,” said Daniel Kramer, Duo Group Managing Partner. Guests should expect a dozen draught beers, stiff specialty cocktails, and a robust wine list.

With this expansion, Duke’s Grocery will conveniently serve the residents of Navy Yard, Capitol Hill and Southwest Waterfront, alongside throngs of sports fans and concertgoers. “Our goal everywhere we operate is to be your ‘local,’ the type of place where you come for late night drinks, weekday lunch, birthday parties, and everything in between,” said Kramer.

The Navy Yard location will be helmed by Executive Chef Allyn “Ink” Barrack, who recently joined Duo Group and is refreshing the menus at all Duke’s, while keeping the favourites guests have come to love. “The kitchens here are liberating because if there’s a flavour profile I want to emphasize or a local purveyor with a delicious product, there’s something new on the menu the next day,” said Chef Ink. Guests can also expect an active bottomless brunch scene at Duke’s Grocery Navy Yard. Award-winning local firm, Studio/3877, is curating the layout and design.

Duke’s Grocery quickly instilled a loyal following with its friendly atmosphere, generous portions, and reasonable prices. Among numerous awards are Washington City Paper’s Best of DC Best Burger from 2016 to 2021, Washingtonian Readers’ Choice winner for Best Burger in 2020 and 2021, and Best Brunch Awards from the RAMMYs and City Paper voters. The original Duke’s Grocery in Dupont Circle opened in 2013, Duke’s Counter opened in 2016, and Duke’s Grocery Foggy Bottom opened in 2019.

Address: Duke’s Grocery Navy Yard | 1201 Half Street, SE Ste. 115. Target Opening: Fall 2022″
