During the storm last week, I noticed water pouring in through the ceiling of my apartment and notified my building. The leak was due to major water accumulation in an amenity space on the roof maintained by the building.
Maintenance came and cut out a portion of drywall in my ceiling and left a huge dehumidifier unit into unit plugged into two outlets. Repairs won’t be completed until this week. The building has only offered me a small concession and agreed to cover the extra utility cost, despite the leak being their fault. Do I have a case for withholding rent for the number of days it took for the repairs to be completed?”
