Meanwhile, on top of Washington Monument

Thanks to Joe for sending:

“The Washington Monument just re-opened and we went up on Sunday morning. Look what we saw up there – a praying mantis 500 feet in the air. How’d it get up there? No clue but the ranger thinks it might have been carried up there by a hawk that they sometimes see up there.”

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected]. Thanks! Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.
