“Women’s Day Fundraiser Today with Saya Salteña, Prescription Chicken & Astro Doughnuts for House of Ruth”

1819 7th Street, NW

From an email: “Three food businesses operating out of the collaborative kitchen space at 1819 7th Street, Prescription Chicken, Saya Salteña and Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken will partner on a fundraising food drive this International Women’s Day (Monday, March 8). In an ongoing effort to support women (Saya and Prescription Chicken are both women-owned) the three businesses will provide the clients of House of Ruth with warm dinner by donating Bolivian salteñas, hot chicken soup and doughnuts. Customers can also support as 20% of the day’s sales from all three kitchens at 1819 7th Street will be donated in the value of food.

Washington, DC based House of Ruth offers comprehensive services and housing for women and children, ranging from supportive housing for families and single women in crisis, to developmental daycare for homeless children, and free counseling services to anyone who has been a victim of domestic violence.

The collaborative kitchen space originally occupied by local chicken soup brand Prescription Chicken recently welcomed new partners, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken and Saya Salteña. Located at 1819 7th Street, NW the flexible kitchen space has helped small businesses pool resources and share expenses while expanding their reach during the COVID-19 pandemic. This International Women’s Day, the businesses’ fundraising efforts will also be expanded together. Thanks for your time, and let me know what questions you may have.”
