Duck Duck Goose Coming to Dupont

2100 P Street, NW

Thanks to Trey for sending: “noticed new signage up in the old Vintage 78 (and formerly Scion) space on P and 21st, right across from Emissary. Looks like Duck Duck Goose in Bethesda is expanding into Dupont.”

All the details from a press release:

“Chef Ashish Alfred, known and celebrated for his Duck Duck Goose restaurants in Bethesda and Baltimore, announces the opening of Duck Duck Goose DC at 2100 P Street, NW in Dupont Circle. The location will cater to those looking for an elevated yet approachable dining experience: from celebratory meals, to happy hours, a work lunch or a private event. It is slated to open its doors in May 2021.

“As a first generation Indian American, if you told me a decade ago that I would open a French restaurant in our nation’s capital, I wouldn’t have believed you. I put my heart and soul into my Duck Duck Goose concepts and I am certain my background lends a unique perspective to the way in which I prepare and edit my menus,” noted Chef Alfred. “I look forward to warmly welcoming the great people of this community and feel an incredible responsibility to serve them. We’re going to be a place where whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or stopping by for a glass of wine on a Tuesday, you’re going to feel welcome. We want to become a neighborhood staple.”

The menu will be decorated with Duck Duck Goose classics — including beef tartare, duck confit and the soon-to-be-famous DDG burger with foie gras. A thoughtful wine list will be offered with selections rooted in French classics. Initially, the restaurant will open for dinner, and soon after, will open for breakfast, lunch and brunch.

Alfred, who is outspoken about his own battle with addiction and who is an advocate for healthy living inside and outside the kitchen, will offer a zero-proof cocktail list, and accommodate those preferring alcohol-free experiences with “sober nights” – including curated dinners and non-alcoholic drinks. “As a sober chef, and person who loves dining out, it is important to celebrate our sober patrons. Our zero-proof selections are interesting, special and inclusive,” Alfred added.

Outdoor seating will be robust, offering 60 seats in a climate-controlled patio with awning. Inside, a private dining area will accommodate up to 20 with approximately 80 seats throughout the interior. From an architectural and design perspective, Alfred partnered with Katie Thomas to bring this vision to life.”
