“Does anyone know why I’m getting these emails if expiration dates have been extended?”

“Dear PoPville,

Question for readers re: vehicle inspection/registration. Our inspection/registration expired in April 2020. At the time DC DMV extended expiration dates until the public health emergency ends. The DMV website indicates that continues to be the case for all DLs, IDs, registrations, inspections, etc. expiring 3/1/20 to 3/17/21.

However, a couple weeks ago I started getting emails from the DMV indicating my registration was about it to expire. Today I got the attached saying my registration is expired.

Does anyone know why I’m getting these emails if expiration dates have been extended? Are they just auto-generated and I can ignore?

Thank you so much!”
