Thanks to all who messaged us starting around 10:30pm last night: “Dozens of lights for sirens at Logan. Any ideas?”

DC Fire and EMS reported:

“Update manhole explosion & CO incident 1300 block Vermont Ave NW. @PepcoConnect has cut power to affected cables. #DCsBravest have metered the building & CO readings are now at safe levels. In the process of returning most units.”

“Carbon Monoxide incident 1300 block Vermont Ave NW. #DCsBravest have elevated CO levels in 3 story apartment building. Building has been evacuated & 2 occupants being evaluated. Hazmat unit searching for source.”

“Update CO incident 1300 block Vermont Ave NW. Still have elevated readings. Also investigating smoking manhole outside the structure. @PepcoConnect on scene. In the process of ventilating the building.”

“Update manhole explosion & CO incident 1300 block Vermont Ave NW. situation remains stable. @PepcoConnect continues working to isolate power and #DCsBravest are monitoring adjacent structures and remain on standby.”
