From a press release:

“Newly-opened Pennyroyal Station will extend its hours, operating with an expanded all-day menu beginning today. The updated hours and menu reflect Pennyroyal’s ethos as a neighborhood restaurant- responding to the need of the surrounding Mount Rainier community and beyond for new daytime dining options during the coronavirus pandemic. The new all-day menu will be available for carry out and delivery from 11 AM to 8 PM Thursday, January 28.

When indoor dining is allowed to resume in Prince George’s County beginning Friday, January 29, the hours will change to 11AM to 9PM on Tuesday through Friday, with carry out and delivery only from 11AM to 4PM followed by on-site dining (indoor and outdoor, weather permitting) from 4 PM to 9 PM (carry out and delivery continues all night). Weekend hours will be 4PM to 9PM with indoor/outdoor dining, carry out and delivery all available.

The expansion of hours and service will provide patrons more of the full vision, menu and capabilities of the Pennyroyal team. Chef Jesse Miller’s comfort food and early fan favorites from Pennyroyal’s first weeks remain a cornerstone of the menu. Familiar offerings include Smokey Brisket and Marrow Mac and Cheese with fried shallots, garlic and chili; Winter Squash and Taleggio Cheese Lasagna layered with ginger and rosemary cream, white miso, lemongrass and hazelnuts; Mom’s Meatballs braised in tomato sauce over polenta and served with grilled bread; and the P.L.T, swapping bacon for pimento cheese and regular tomatoes for the fried green variety in the classic sandwich. Also remaining on the menu are family-style meals serving 4 guests. Communal meal offerings include Smokey Brisket served with collards studded with smoked ham and scratch-made biscuits and All Day-Roasted Pork Shoulder Tacos accompanied with pico de gallo, salsa verde, Carolina rice and corn tortillas.

The sandwich section of the menu was amped up for lunchtime with several new handheld options including Mom’s Meatball Sub featuring house ground meatballs in their own tomato sauce, Calabrian chili relish and aged pecorino; the House Pastrami with aged cheddar and “tiger” slaw, a nod to Miller’s Baltimore roots; and the Berkshire Pork Porchetta Sandwich with slow-roasted herb-rubbed pork belly, roasted tomatoes, verde pesto and arugula on an Italian roll. Guests looking for lighter lunch fare can choose from two new salad options including a Winter Salad with mixed greens, roasted beets, squash, hazelnuts, radish, taleggio, biscuit crumbs and cider maple vinaigrette (chicken can be added for an additional charge) and the Arugula Salad filled with roasted tomatoes, Calabrian chili peppers, cucumbers, verde pesto, aged pecorino and white balsamic (chicken can be added for an additional charge).

Given the Mount Rainier neighborhood’s large vegetarian and vegan population, the all-day menu offers several new meatless options including Vegan Sausage with peppers and onions over polenta; Coconut Curry packed with winter vegetables, tofu, chickpeas, spiced yogurt, chili oil and rice; and the vegan sausage in sandwich form with roasted tomatoes, peppers and onions on an Italian sub roll.

Carry out and in-house delivery (3 mile radius, available after 4 PM) orders can be placed at www.pennyroyalstation.com. Delivery outside of the 3 mile range is available through DoorDash and UberEats during all hours of operation. Reservations for on-site dining are available via Resy.

Guests can also pick up their food and grab a seat on Pennyroyal’s mural-adorned patio to enjoy their food during weekday hours.

Pennyroyal Station is located at 3310 Rhode Island Avenue, Mount Rainier, MD 20712. For more information please visit www.pennyroyalstation.com or call (240) 770-8579.”
