Today’s Rental was chosen because I’m a sucker for Mount Pleasant Group Houses ($867 per room)

This rental is located at Newton Street NW near 18th Street NW. The Craigslist ad says:

“$867 2 Bedrooms in Cute Mt Pleasant Group House – Available 11/9 & 11/23 (Mt Pleasant)

Two bedrooms available for rent in Mount Pleasant group house starting November 9 (Room 1) and November 23 (Room 2)!

Nestled in quiet tree-lined Mt. P streets, but walking distance to Columbia Heights (and Green/Yellow Metro), Adams Morgan, Meridian Hill Park, and U Street Corridor, along with more bus lines than you’ll know what to do with (42, 43, D32, D33, H1, H2, H3, H4, H8, S1, S2, S4, S9, W45, and W47). Close to several grocery stores, including Giant, Target, and our local favorite: Best World, as well as great bars, restaurants, and shops. You’ll absolutely love Mount Pleasant.

The house itself has a covered front porch, a front room which doubles as a guest room, full kitchen with ample storage space, hardwood floors, a washer and dryer, and a large back deck with tree-shade and a grill. There is a half bath on the first floor, and a full bath on both the second and third floors.

It’s a great space in a great location, so most people end up staying for a few years. Although that is not a requirement, we do prefer someone who plans to be in the DC area for at least a year.

Roommates are six young professionals (seven including you) in their 20s with varied schedules and lives, but who enjoy spending time with one another when possible (there is a Bachelor/ette-watching contingent in the house, as well as a sports-watching contingent, so if you like one or both of those things, you’re in luck). We like to grill, play games (Catan, Bananagrams, etc.), and otherwise hang out.

If you’re interested in checking the place out, shoot us an email with a little bit about you, including why you think you’d be a good fit.

We generally hold an open house, but because of COVID-19, we’ll have a Zoom interview with the house to let you ask questions, get to know you, and take you on a virtual tour. If we both think it’s a good fit, you can come over to check out the room in person.

We love pets but unfortunately can’t have them in the house.

Room 1 (11/9): The room is on the third floor and faces the alley with a big beautiful tree and gets a lot of sunlight and is on the quieter side of the house. There is one closet in the room with some storage space up near the ceiling. The room also has high ceilings which opens it up. There is a second closet right outside your bedroom door that is entirely yours and is great for storage. This is the room with bed against the window in pictures.

Room 2 (Available 11/23): This is an attic room at the top of the house. You get your own floor to yourself! There’s a huge skylight in the ceiling, so the room gets tons of light all day. There’s exposed brick which brings some great character to the room. There’s also a surprising amount of square footage and storage space. There’s a large built in closet space and a separate area in addition to bed and living space, which currently has a futon and tv sitting area. There are slanted ceilings on the side of the room, so it’s probably not suited for people over 6’2, but I’m 5’11 and have not had an issue with it at all.

COVID-19: We’re actively social distancing, wearing masks, and trying to be as safe as possible outside of the house. The roommates make an effort to shoot the house a text and make sure any porch visits are good with everyone, get tested after travel, etc. We want to make sure any new roommate takes general precautions as well.

Most of us are teleworking and either work in our rooms or pop down to the living room. Internet connection has not been an issue throughout the house even when folks are on videoconferences.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
