Shelter Beer Bar and Hi Fi Taco Shop opened in The Roost

1401 Pennsylvania Ave, SE

From an email:

“Shelter Craft Beer, Wine & Cocktails

From the minds behind ChurchKey, The Sovereign, The Grand Delancey & Bluejacket (among others), Shelter features many of the key elements that one would expect from a Neighborhood Restaurant Group beer bar:

50 taps, including 5 side-pull taps. 2 cask engines dispensing real ale and cider. temperature-controlled system. rigorous line cleaning. extensive glassware.

With near frenetic-rotation, Beverage Director Greg Engert will pour close to 1,000 different beers annually on draft. What makes Shelter different is its focus on low-abv selections – up to 50% of Shelter’s list clocks in below 5% abv. Plus, find a killer selection of natural wines and cocktails from soon-to-come Show Of Hands. While you’re here, you’re going to want to check out Shelter’s retail shop for a selection of bottles + cans alongside Show of Hands housemade spirits, bottled cocktails, & bitters – all to-go.”

“Hi/Fi Taco. Tacos, Nachos & More

Stick around and order from Red Apron Head Butcher & Chef Nathan Anda’s highly anticipated taco shop – also opening at The Roost today. Born out of Chef Nate’s genuine love and appreciation of tacos, Hi/Fi Taco features playful riffs in-line with his work at Red Apron and The Partisan over the years. The menu features a rotating selection of tacos (1 for $3, 2 for $5.75, and 6 for $17), along with plays on nachos, queso, and more.”
