Update from a press release:

“Rumi’s Kitchen, founded in Atlanta in 2006 by Iranian Chef and Owner Ali Mesghali, opens its latest restaurant in Washington, DC’s Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood today, Friday, August 21. Rumi’s Kitchen is an authentic Persian restaurant offering bright, bold flavors of traditional Iranian cuisine and innovative takes on classics. The DC location marks the restaurant group’s first foray outside of the Atlanta metropolitan area.

The menu will rely on the high quality, traditional ingredients, complemented by a world-class wine list and beautiful desserts. Signature dishes at Rumi’s Kitchen include Chicken Barg (saffron marinated chicken breast, saffron basmati rice), Kashk Bademjoon (fried eggplant, cream of whey, crispy onion, mint oil) and Fattoush Salad (heirloom tomato, herbs, romaine heart, toasted flatbread, buttermilk dressing). In the kitchen, Chef Ali’s bold cooking style pushes the boundaries of Persian Cuisine while relying on traditional ingredients.

“Since 2006, Rumi’s Kitchen has earned its place as a beloved gathering place for our guests – paying homage to the bold flavors of Iran, with hospitality and a commitment to excellent service at the forefront of what we do,” said Chef and Founder Ali Mesghali. “Given the current state of the world, it is humbling to open our doors in the District and we don’t take for granted the outpouring of support we’ve received from each of our team members and beloved patrons that has made this expansion possible.”

Equally important to the menu is the standard of hospitality guests can expect at Rumi’s Kitchen. With a golden standard of customer service, Rumi’s Kitchen ensures each guest feels like family during the dining experience no matter the occasion, which is the purest form of Persian hospitality.

The opening of Rumi’s Kitchen will see guests receiving the highest level of safety and health precautions set forth by the CDC and city officials, without sacrificing a luxurious dining experience. Guests will have their temperatures checked upon arrival while staff will use hospital-grade cleaning solutions to sanitize the restaurant throughout the day and have social distancing measures in place to ensure guests are a safe distance apart.

Rumi’s Kitchen will be located in Mount Vernon Triangle at 640 L Street NW for lunch and dinner daily, as well as takeout and delivery. The restaurant will offer private dining options and seasonal outdoor seating. To make a reservation, please visit www.rumiskitchen.com.”
