A few readers have been writing in about the Airedale: “the airedale in Columbia Heights has closed for good per sources.”
and
“Dear PoPville,
I think the Airedale is permanently closed. I tried to go there for outdoor drinks on Friday, July 31, and one of the staff was out front with all of the tables turned on their sides. I asked if they were closed, and they said yeah, permanently.
During the next week it didn’t look like anything was happening and I didn’t see a sign on their door saying anything. But tonight as I walked by (I was on the other side of the street), I noticed the panel with their logo on their lighted sign was gone but their information on Google, their website, and their social media still makes it seem like they are temporarily closed.
I would like to think this is not true, but I’m afraid it is and am saddened, although unfortunately not completely surprised. I remember living a block away when they first opened and went there almost once a week over the course of two years (convenience, good food, nice staff, different drinks from other places I frequent) before I moved to first Adams Morgan and now Park View. Despite having so much outdoor space to seat people, I think they were just too isolated in their block and depended on the sports/local night crowds, which really can’t happen in the pandemic.”
The Airedale’s website says:
“The Airedale is currently closed for
business during these uncertain times.
Please be in good health.”
Updates as more is known.
