Update from MPD: “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.

At approximately 10:48 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 28 year-old Shantal Hill, of Northwest, DC.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

“Just heard a rapid succession of 8 or 9 gunshots – N. Capitol and M. Then two cars crashed into each other at the same corner. Tons of police arriving now…”

“A little after 1 a.m. helicopters are back and searching for something.”

From MPD: “1D is investigating a shooting in the unit block of M St NW. This appears to be an isolated incident. Please avoid the area while the investigation is underway.”

Alan Henney reported:

“WOMAN SHOT— North Capitol St and M St NW-DC. 28yr-old woman shot in the chest and lower body during suspected domestic-related incident. Fair vitals. Police searching for the suspect.

This shooting in Sursum Corda area is now reported to be a homicide. Police are actively tracking leads to capture the gunman.”
