I usually run through Georgetown once a day – yesterday evening, around 5:30, I had a pretty scary experience: a short, stocky guy in a windbreaker standing close to the corner of M and Wisconsin, at the entrance of the parking lot next to America Eats, muttered some disgusting and menacing things to me.
I won’t go into specifics about all he said, but he called me a “fat whore” and a “bitch,” and mentioned my hair being dyed blonde so I know he was talking about me. I would have just shaken it off, but then he started walking quickly behind me and followed me all the way down M Street.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I am wondering if I should report it or not. I would also really welcome any tips on how to handle similar situations in the future – I just kept walking but had it been at night or had there not been any other people around, I would have felt much more unsafe.”
