Dear PoPville

“I wake up with a layer of particulate matter covering my floor, my desk, my blinds, my windowsill, and my clothing.”

“Dear PoPville,

I live next door to a townhouse that has been doing renovations every day for the past week. Adding a/c units, replacing windows, things of that nature. Totally fine. Except my bedroom faces the construction and no matter how open or closed my window is, I wake up with a layer of particulate matter covering my floor, my desk, my blinds, my windowsill, and my clothing. Not to mention that it’s irritating my throat and lungs, which is awful in the best instance and drives me to paranoia in these uncertain times.

I went next door to inquire about the construction, but the residents do not own the building and the landlord is the one arranging the construction.

Realistically, what recourse do I have? Should I call that landlord and tell him/her the situation? Should I call 311 to complain? I’ve been in my current place for 8 years and have never experienced this.

Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.”
