Fundraiser Launched for Beloved Bartender “She woke up in a hospital bed with no recollection of how she got there or why she was there.”

Thanks to all who passed on the GoFundMe for this very serious situation:

“Lidia’s world has recently been turned upside down. Last month, after wrapping an early dinner on a rare Sunday night off, Lidia was headed home to relax and rest for her next shift. She woke up in a hospital bed with no recollection of how she got there or why she was there. What Lidia did know was that she could no longer move her arms or her legs.

On January 15, Lidia underwent surgery for her back and spinal cord. Early test results have determined sensation is present in her limbs, but actual movement and use of either arm or either leg are not in the immediate future.

Lidia is unable to return to work for an indefinite amount of time. As a bartender, she will receive no paycheck, tips, or benefits. And while her determination to heal is unfaltering, recovery requires extensive physical therapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation. Medical bills are impending.

This fund has been created for one reason: to help Lidia. Since the next chapter is scary and daunting, the hope is that this fund will not only give our friend a financial boost, but also provide her with some peace of mind, allowing Lidia to focus on getting back to her healthy and able-bodied self.”

Ed. Note: Lidia is a bartender at The Red Hen and St. Anselm. Another post on Facebook indicated the scooter crash. Donations to aid in her recovery are accepted through GoFundMe here.

Thanks to EH for sending this great two-fer “A VW bug parked about 20 feet in front of a VW van.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
