Update: “Car2Gone”

Updated title courtesy Clint Lohse.

Or Car2Go – Gone. At any rate, whoa indeed. Thanks to John (and everyone else) for passing on:

“It’s with a heavy heart that we must share that our last day of SHARE NOW (car2go) service in North America, which includes Washington, D.C. and Arlington County, will be February 29, 2020.

This decision was made based on two extremely complicated realities. The first being the volatile state of the global mobility landscape, and the second being the rising infrastructure complexities facing North American transportation today and the associated costs needed to sustain operations here. Ultimately, we are not in a position to commit to the level of investment necessary to make the North American market successful.

We want to say thank you to our customers, the District Department of Transportation and Arlington County, as well as, District and Arlington County officials, who have supported us since we launched in the market in 2012. We are saddened by this decision and deeply apologize for the inconvenience this will cause you when service ends.”

Not all will be displeased of course:
