Today’s Rental was chosen because the reader is having a tough time finding a roommate

This rental/roommate opportunity is located at 17th near R Street, NW. The Craigslist ad says:

“$1178 / 165ft2 – Roomy Rent-Controlled 1B/1BR in Spacious Apt. in N. Dupont (LGBT) (Dupont (17th & R))

Seeking a friendly roommate for a one bedroom (11’x15′ room, with walk-in closet and your own bathroom) in a spacious two bedroom/two bathroom apartment (754 square feet) located in the heart of Dupont. Shared spaces are a fully-furnished large living room and a kitchen.

Rent is $1,178 per month. (It includes all utilities: water and heating. Cable and internet: $78 total per month.) The building requires a security deposit and credit check fee.

Available for December 1, or earlier.

BONUS: Since it’s a rent-controlled apartment, rent increases less than 5% each year (pretty rare in this area). Last year, it was 3%, about $35.

The location can’t be beat: 17th and R St. NW
— a half-block away from Safeway (the grocery store) and Mikko (a Scandinavian cafe)
— less than a 7-minute walk to the Dupont Circle Metro on the Red Line (North entrance)
— a block away from the Capital Bikeshares and the Metro buses (S2, S4, S1, S9) on 16th Street

Please email me a bit about yourself (what you look for in a roommate, hobbies, something interesting, job, etc.), and I will send details on the open house your way.

A little bit about me: Nonprofit professional gay male in his 30s, who travels on most weekends and is losing an amazing roommate. He’s been here for three years (moving in with his gf), so looking for someone who can commit to living here at least for a year.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
— The apartment is on the first floor. Laundry is below (24-hour washers and dryers).
— Air conditioning (window unit) and heating included.
— Available room is only for one person (two people cannot share the room per apartment complex guidelines).
— Sorry, no pets allowed. No smoking/vaping in the apartment.
— Management building folks are very responsive, with repairs, updates and other requests.”
