“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, November 15, 2019, in the Unit block of H Street, Northeast.
At approximately 8:23 pm, a green in color 2015 Ford Mustang was traveling westbound in the Unit block of H Street, Northeast in the far left lane of travel. The pedestrian was walking from north to south, across the westbound lanes of travel in the middle of the block, outside of a marked cross walk when he was struck by the vehicle listed above.
The driver fled the scene of the crash and subsequently struck a DC Circulator bus with no passengers, and a parked vehicle in the Unit block of H Street, Northwest. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
The decedent has been identified as 39 year-old Hubert Hinds, of Silver Spring, MD.
This case remains under investigation.
