“Porta Potties of the Sky”

“Dear PoPville,

I’d like to share with you my latest masterpiece… I call it “Porta Potties of the Sky.”

Artist Notes: October, 9 2019. Digital photography. I was walking to work this morning along I St SE when four porta potties soared majestically through the air and landed on the roof of a building under construction. Unfortunately my camera phone lens was a bit foggy and I had only a quick second to catch the spectacular event (and I was talking to my mom on the phone and had to cut her off mid-sentence–sorry mom!), so it didn’t turn out as oddly beautiful as it was in real life (I’m a huge fan of sunrises and clouds–some of the prettiest pictures I’ve taken have been of the sun rising on M St. SE in the morning and the afternoon clouds walking home from work. We do live in a beautiful city).

Anyway, it made me snort-laugh, and I thought our awesome community might get a chuckle out of it, too.

In all seriousness, the amount of giant heavy stuff they swing right over the sidewalks, especially in the mornings, gives me the heebie jeebies. I’m not sorry, construction people–I’m sure you’re all very skilled and up on your safety precautions, but I’m not about to walk under the cement mixer, industrial HVAC unit, or anything else you’ve decided to hoist above the sidewalk regardless of whether it’s “protected” by a rickety wooden shelter. Consider me the Pope of Nope.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
