“Charlie was living in the same place in Dupont Circle for over 40 years before being forced out due to gentrification. For a variety of reasons, once he was forced to move he wasn’t set up for success and things haven’t worked out since moving to Mt. Pleasant a few years ago. Unfortunately, Charlie will soon be evicted and currently has no place to go.
Charlie has some friends working for him, looking for a solution – and he’s working hard for himself. But permanent, affordable housing in the DC metro area is incredibly difficult for anyone to find, much less a 71 year old senior citizen living on social security.
We’re close to finding an apartment that fits Charlie and his income, but it won’t be before he’s evicted. Please consider giving a few dollars to help with a temporary solution while he finds permanent housing.”
