“Capital Bikeshare is turning nine this Friday, September 20. To celebrate, we’re giving out free day passes so residents and visitors alike can enjoy unlimited 30-minute Capital Bikeshare rides all day long.

“Capital Bikeshare is America’s original bikeshare network, and nine years in, CaBi is a crucial component of the fabric of the DC-area public transit network,” said Chris Dattaro, the DC-area Market Manager for Lyft, the operator of Capital Bikeshare. “We can’t wait to celebrate our CaBirthday with a day of free rides, and hope residents and visitors alike across the DC region will join us.”

Riders can redeem their free passes in the Capital Bikeshare app, by selecting the “24-Hour Pass” and entering the promo code 9THBDAY. The celebratory passes will be valid from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Friday, September 20. More info is available on the Capital Bikeshare blog.

On its ninth birthday, the system has racked up over 25 million trips across more than 550 stations. The system expanded to Falls Church just this summer; at the same time, DDOT also launched DDOT also launched a $25 membership program for students at participating universities to encourage ridership and promote bikeshare equity.”
