“Shop Made in DC coming to Georgetown”

1242 Wisconsin Avenue, NW

From a press release:

“What: Shop Made in DC, the first brick and mortar store stocked exclusively with DC brands, will open a new location in the heart of Georgetown next month. Located at 1242 Wisconsin Ave., NW, the third Shop Made in DC will be exclusively retail-focused, featuring 100 makers, 26 of which are brand new – including street artist Absurdly Well, a new all natural skin care line (District Batch), and a line of  fashion designers including Meghan Evans, Mimi Miller and Hugh & Crye. Evergreen makers include Cherry Blossom Creative, Bailiwick Clothing and Kicheko Jewelry. A full list of makers can be found online.

The 1,800 square-foot retail shop features an industrial aesthetic, with all fixtures and displays designed by DC makers. Makers in Residence on the Shop Made in DC team co-created a window mural, and there are five mini-art gallery walls featuring local artists such as Maggie O’Neal, JD Deardouff and Rose Jaffe. Curated by Stacey Price of People Make Place, Shop Made in DC’s third location will continue its mission of low-entry to marketplace for DC creatives to sell their goods and increase visibility of their brands while stimulating the local economy. Price and Babin’s expansion of Shop Made in DC to Georgetown is reflective of a direct response to the momentum and growth of the maker and creative economy in Washington, DC. Since opening its Dupont Circle location, Shop Made in DC has supported over 250 producers and written 1.5 million dollars back to DC makers.
