DC Property Taxes Question

Photo by PoPville flickr user angela n.

“Dear PoPville,

My wife and I bought a house in January. We were told by our title company that DC would update their DC Real Property Tax Database within a 60 days or so. Our title company also completed our Homestead Deduction paperwork on the day we settled. Fast forward 6 months and our house is still tied to the old owners in DC’s database, but does say they house isn’t receiving the Homestead Deduction (it had been prior to us buying it). Our real estate agent said that updates to the database generally trigger Property Values to be re-assessed.

My question for your readers is this – Is it to my benefit that DC has not updated this and therefore allowed my wife and I to pay the previously assessed taxes for 2019 for our April payment and potentially (if they don’t update it prior) in October OR is this something that needs to be addressed now? Would appreciate any insights or thoughts from people that may have recently had this issue.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
