“My project partner Sara Abdel-Rahim and I have organized a non-profit dinner series named Tables Without Borders to support refugee and asylum-seeking chefs in the DC area. On each night of World Refugee Week (June 17-22), a popular DC restaurant (A Rake’s Progress, Espita, Little Sesame, Maydan, and Himitsu) will welcome an emerging refugee or asylum-seeking chef into the kitchen and offer a unique menu combining the restaurant and chef’s signature flavors. A portion of all proceeds will benefit HIAS, a leader in refugee resettlement and advocacy.”
