I live in one of the older condo buildings on M ST SW by the Waterfront metro stop. I normally park on 3rd ST, but recently parking has been much more difficult due to all the new residential buildings in the area. Last week, I parked on K ST SW at 3rd, which is a bit further than I normally park, but I didn’t think much of it.
On Friday I read your post about the gunshots in SW, and thought to myself “Eek, I should not have parked there.” Thinking I was being a tad dramatic, I told myself my car was surely fine. It’s a big intersection, right? And the article didn’t specify which side of the intersection or of the block the shooting happened at. Well, I wake up Saturday morning and go get my car, and sure enough there is a massive hole through the side of my car, caused by a bullet.
I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 4 years and have never had anything like this happen.”
