Special Police Officer Arrested Last Thursday for allegedly having “brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim” in Columbia Heights

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District have announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Thursday, February 7, 2019, in the 1400 block of Park Road, Northwest.

At approximately 7:28 pm, the suspect and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation at the listed location.

During the altercation, the suspect brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The suspect then fled the scene. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect was a Special Police Officer.

On Thursday, February 7, 2019, 23-year-old Franklin Hernandez, of Silver Spring, MD was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Carrying a Pistol Without a License.”
